i object to this change. it changes libstdc++ in ways i've not convinced myself aren't dangerous. they at least doesn't appear to be used in any of the packages i build :-) i don't see any benefit to changing the types instead of making the new compiler match what we've used for 13 years. can you explain what the benefit of breaking the ABI is? .mrg.
