Panic of netbsd-8

I just picked up a Sun Fire v245, installed netbsd-8 from NetBSD-daily, 
downloaded pkgsrc and started compiling. I left it running overnight and 
in the morning, this was on the console:

So I compiled a kernel with DIAGNOSTIC, then rebooted. Then booting stops here:

Then I saw all of the messages on this list under "NetBSD-8.xx fails to 
boot on ultra 45", so I compiled a kernel with SSIZE set to 4. Now I can 
boot.

Is it likely that my panic was due to the stack size? Is the needed stack 
proportional to the amount of memory in a system? Mine has 16 gigs.
