As far I can remember, it was already broken at 5.2. C++ compilations 
don't even get completed, and C++ executables have issues. This hits 
roff, if I remember right, which one of the tools built, so you never 
get past building even the tools.

(All a bit fuzzy memory)

There might have been additional issues, but that's the one that stands 
out in my memory.

As for exactly when it stopped building, I don't remember anymore.
