Yes, I general use the "latest" copy of SIMH, in this case 3.12-5 I believe.

I did actually try Open SIMH yesterday.  I refreshed my copy of the tree,
I believe the last update was from back in late December.  I think it
calls itself 4.1-0.

Using an image of 11.0-RC1 I ran a build with 512M memory and saw the same
result that I did with SIMH 3.12.

Here I am using the same commands that Matthew did earlier.
