Troubles with USB install images

Hi,

    I am having trouble with 9.0 USB install images (though to be fair 
8.2 doesn't work either).     I am trying to load NetBSD on a fairly 
newish motherboard/CPU combo.   It's an Asus Prime X299-A with a Intel 
Core i9-9820X CPU @ 3.3GHz.

The BIOS on the motherboard is version 2.17.1246.

The behavior is I load the USB image on a 32GB flash drive, it boots up 
the EFI boot loader but that boot loader cannot see anything else on the 
USB drive.    Hence, netbsd does not boot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
