The "core notifier timeout" and "base:-n timeout" messages happen all
the time on my system.  The messages themselves seem to be detailed 
internal messages and don't provide any link back to real-world, so
not very useful for debugging.

On my system at least the system is  useable, modulo stalling at
unexpected times.  See my PR kern/58053 for more details.

FWIW, my system behsves quite well when using firefox or xterms;  it
fails misersably when I throw libreoffice and/or gnucash (both from
pkgsrc) into the mix.

You can most likely get a dumb framebuffer running if you disable 
nouveau at boot.  Just interrupt the countdown, excape to the boot
command prompt, and enter

 	userconf disable nouveau*

Then continue booting.  You won't get any X accelleration...  :-(
