NetBSD runs on mpc860 in fact.   Some independent efforts have
already realized.   The "MMU architecture" is quite different from most
of POWER descendant.   There is no MMU circuit indeed, but DTLB
and ITLB in pair.   Exception handler is responsible to TLB refilling.
Thus it's more or less MIPS-like.   It's PPC-compatible only in
terms of user mode programs.
