What are the monitor/device screen resolution for the various ports of NetBSD

How does NetBSD detect the device screen resolution (eg 320 X 240 pixels and 9dpi(dots per inch) ).
for the various ports. Is this code specific to each port? Or is there general purpose code in the main NetBSD repository of code,
for this purpose?
