I disagree. Upper and lower case follow certain rules in normal English. Start of sentences and proper names should have capitals, fine. But I don't think the same rules apply to filenames which are inteded to be short descriptive titles rather than fully grammatically correct sentences. The meaning of the filenames comes completely from the words, and not from the capitalisation IMHO.

The fact that Tracker's query window automatically searches for both screams of a workaround for something that Be recognised does not work quite how the user would expect.

The case-insensitive version would still allow both upper and lower case names, just wouldn't allow "myfile" and "MyFile" to coexist in the same directory.

Axel, I agree it is rare to need to specify full paths without being in a Terminal (I often make mistakes when writing code, but that's hardly a newbie issue). But say entering a name in a save as window that only varies by capitalisation would give the potentially confusing situation of having 2 different files with the same name. I really can't imagine anyone actually finds it useful to have the posibility of having 2 files differing only by capitalisation.

Anyway, I'm not going to win this one, so I'll stop spamming you all now!
