Just got this back from Yvan at Steinberg...

There is no problem with VST 3.0 on BeOS....the only thing is the 
VSTGUI 
which should be support... i think Franz will help us for this, but i 
think you understand that we dont want to spend a lot of time or money 
on BeOS (we had already spend a lot for nothing on this platform...:-()

Which basically means, "We'll support VST3 as long as we don't have to
do anything" - seems like a workable solution to me.
