ELAN1301 I2C touchpad stops generating events on ASUS Vivobook X412DA

Hello,

I have an ASUS Vivobook X412DA with OpenBSD 7.9 GENERIC.MP#449 amd64.

The internal touchpad is detected as:

ihidev0 at iic0 addr 0x15 gpio 89, vendor 0x4f3 product 0x30c6, ELAN1301
imt0 at ihidev0: clickpad, 5 contacts
wsmouse0 at imt0 mux 0

The touchpad works after boot, but after some use it stops generating
events.
The device does not detach and no error appears in dmesg.

After the failure:
- /dev/wsmouse0 still exists
- Xorg still has wsmouse0 open
- wsconsctl shows mouse.tp.disable=0
- restarting xenodm does not restore the touchpad
- the BIOS option "Internal Pointing Device" is enabled

A USB mouse continues to work.

The failure pattern:
If the laptop is left idle after boot, the touchpad keeps working.
After moving the touchpad, it works for a few minutes and then stops.

This looks like the I2C HID device stops producing reports, but the kernel
still keeps the device attached.

Is this a known issue with ELAN1301 / imt(4) / ihidev(4)?
