bootrom firmware upgrade

...i had to follow the FAQ to get serial console working on my 715/60
using the HP firmware upgrade LIF that comes with
ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/firmware_patches/hp/cpu/PF_C7120023

that firmware apparently patches the 712's ROM to v2.3. my rom is back at
1.6 since it's almost impossible to get info on 700 series devices form
compaq/HP (understandable after 10 years), i was wondering if anyone knew:

*) is there a ROM upgrade for the 715 (following the above namign schem
with PF_C71500xx doesnt work)

*) ...is it worth applying / has anyone done it successfully?  I sincerly
doubt it but there seems to be some noteworthy impovements in the 712's
ROM from 1.6 -> 2.3
