Parallel port on 712/60

Hello.

I'm trying to set up an HP 712/60 as a print server for a LaserJet
attached via the parallel port. I had this setup working with HP-UX
11.00 on the same machine, but under OpenBSD it appears that the
parallel port is not functioning. Redirecting output to /dev/lpt0 does
nothing; no error message is produced and nothing is output by the
printer. Attempting to print jobs using lpd returns ENODEV according to
ktrace:

  2359 lpd CALL write(0x6,0x78009720,0x400)
2359 lpd RET write -1 errno 19 Operation not supported by
device

This is using /dev/lpt0. Trying to use /dev/lpa0 returns "device not
configured" for output redirection; lpd jobs for lpa0 sit in the queue
indefinitely.

Is the parallel port simply not supported on hppa, as on sparc, or is
there something wrong with my configuration?
