Sounds like a good tip -- I'll have to try it. I attempted 2 or 3 
installs on my Centris 650, each ending with terrible file system 
corruption soon after first boot. Same problem with the alternative 
kernel. Then by hunch I tried setting up the disk with four 500MB 
partitions instead of my previously attempted 1.5GB root partition and 
500MB /var. The machine has been working smoothly ever sense.

The box is damn slow at building software, but I'm very please by how 
well it runs Apache/PHP once everything is built and configured. Now I 
can brag to my friends about having successfully downgraded from a 
Powermac 8500. Think there's any chance OpenBSD could run on a Newton?
