Ronald Cotoni pointed out that my cut and paste was kind of sloppy. So I'll point out again that the box I'm trying to install on is a performa 550. (I probably shouldn't have mentioned that the performa 630 was what I was using as a console terminal.) I guess I should mention again that I'm just experimenting without the FPU, which means I'm definitely on unsupported hadware. (And, yes, I'm also experimenting with netBSD. Having problems with the file system on that -- df reports negative free on several of my partitions. Somebody's even compiled the kernel and base stuff with soft float over there, so I might try that out next month, but all that is OT here. Thanks, Ronald.) > This time, I set it to > boot to single user.
