My use case:

I have a canadian mac (that doesn't fly).

I have an italian laptop (for linux).

I have two mini-pc assembled in China (with powersupplies downgraded to 60w just enough to power them on, without any intruder I mean).

I have a german mini-pc (with tpm you can disable by bios).

(that's a lot fatigue considering that I open them one at time in the antisismic cellar)

(you can see it, I'm a multinational company..)

I use OpenBSD mainly yo launch tools like sysclean and disklabel. I switch the same stick between my devices to not feel an "apple" and to not feel an "homescreen"and, best, whem Im in vacation. Time to time, I backup my stick by copymachine. Certainly I developed my IDE on them as well, but no one care about it, and it is tremendously.. cool! When, I feel too old, I pass by an IT market in China to try my stick on a brand new laptop and to check it out - and clearly only there is possible. However, when I'm the need to feel really oppressed I act as to forget to insert the stick and when I'm in I launch a windows update, this is emotional. Again, all this "ecosystem" come with weekly backups and daily backups aka full present repo completed of backup history both of local and live work. I have a safe to sell and it is empty, sincerely.
