It will either do nothing, break things (though afaik this is very unlikely for intel) in which case you can uninstall it, or hugely reduce CPU use. I don't remember if it helps with browsers or not (and if so, which ones), but it definitely helps a lot with some of the other players. -- Please keep replies on the mailing list.
