well, doing a little searching around turned up this little gem: https://www.reddit.com/r/unix/comments/3acb61/what_does_make_run_error_139_mean/

from what I have read, it appears that gcc tried to do something and failed. there could be an underlying issue causing this. Since I am not a programmer, I am only guessing at this point.

no doubt that someone higher up the food chain might have a better answer.
