if a hypen is present in the kernel filename it is not escaped?

Hi guys,
I copied a copy of the bsd.rd from the latest sparc snapshot onto my
netra i (rebadged sparc5) & called it /bsd.rd-current, the system was
running 4.7-RELEASE
halting the system & issuing:
boot disk /bsd.rd-current
at the OBP prompt loaded the 4.7-RELEASE bsd.rd kernel & invoked UKC
Is this expected behaviour?
