Concerns over VAX Port

Hello,
     First off I would like to thank you all for the help with the ethernet card.  I can rest easy on that point now, it would seem.
However, one point on which I cannot be so satisfied concerns the possible fate of the OpenBSD VAX port in general.  I might be going slightly paranoid, or somesuch, but I noticed a message recently about a particular port which was going to be removed from the supported list--I forget which one.
To explain my concern, I should probably go just a little into my reasoning behind the selection of such a  comparatively little used port as the Vax.
I have always been a Linux and Unix enthusiast, ever since I discovered the operating systems a few years ago--no, I wasn't around for the first ones.
Also, by unhappy coincidence, I am visually impaired, or if you'd prefer another term, blind.  The accessibility software is written for Windows and now Mac OS X because that's what people use.  True, there is software for Linux, but I've considered every Linux distribution I looked at to be complex, overly so for my taste.
I ended up choosing OpenBSD vax mainly because it is possible for me to use it with my Windows screen reader acting as a way to read the console and command line.  You can just forget X--even with local Windows servers, that simply doesn't work.
Also, as a side note related to this issue, I found the install of OpenBSD Vax something I could go through with the reader and handle without sighted assistance.  I couldn't do that with the I386 installer, at least in its native configuration.
If I am barking up the wrong tree, please let me know.  It's just a little disconcerting to see support removed for any platform, and I felt I should indicate some of my reasons for concern.
