Re: Changes in disk layout in VAX?????

To follow up some more on some things I don't understand...

Last post....

(I also noticed that the dump/restore of root from sd0 to sd1
did not copy the fstab... I had to cp it manually, so I could
edit it from sd0-sd1 targets.  Something strange is happening
in VAXland....need input.... need input....)

Then I played some more.....

I also found out that /boot was not being copied in the dump/restore
so I had to manually cp that from sd0 to sd1a.  Then, things finally
booted as one would normally expect on a VAX.

That would seem to imply that that cylinder 0 is a separate fs
that root is not allowed to meddle with, that contains a boot block
and /boot and the fstab file.  To me, that seems way out in left field,
and not the traditional way of VAXing.  Is this really what is going on?
If so, why on VAX?  I have a hard time following the logic of that on a
VAX.
