I'd run latest stable version of OpenBSD on an old Athlon 2800
processor. I store a fair amount of stuff on a separate IDE drive and
keep it mounted read-only, except when adding lots of info to it. To
communicate with rest of my home network I just transfer files with
filezilla.  To switch my /bin scripts between Linux and OpenBSD I have
to edit a little, but I see no need to switch to Bash in OpenBSD. it
just keeps working and is great for the desktop.
