In tomorrow's Forbes: "All these guys that sell proprietary hardware with proprietary operating systems and massive margins, they're all dead," declares Simon Lok, founder of Lok Technology in San Jose. This year he expects to sell $4 million in routers based on off-the-shelf chips from Intel and Advanced Micro Devices and a free open-source operating system called OpenBSD, charging 90% less than Cisco for what he claims is tighter security and better performance.
