What happens if you use your old xorg.conf which sets the driver to
"chips" with 4.6-beta?

Also can you send me the /var/log/xorg.0.log from X -configure?

I guess the chips driver fails to load for some reason, I'd like to see
if it can be fixed for 4.6.
