XDM + ctrl-alt-backspace kills console

When I start XDM and I press ctrl-alt-backspace to restart the
window manager or just XDM, all my consoles lose their displays; I
get nothing but black when pressing ALT-F{[1-4],6}. The XDM display
itself works. Text typed is still recognized, so I can still type
commands.  Rebooting fixes things.

I read several bug reports related to this but I'm not certain
they're the same issue:

https://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openbsd-misc&m=102309065715727&w=2
https://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openbsd-misc&m=99171135623728&w=2

This problem manifests itself only when typing ctrl-alt-backspace;
``pkill xdm'' doesn't affect the console.

This is a Fujitsu Lifebook P-1035. Anyone else have this problem?
