I think Paul has noted that it significantly slows down 'port', so he  
didn't think it would be good for default behavior (please correct me  
if I'm wrong).

It would probably be useful to have a conf flag to enable it always,  
though (so I could do that and not have to remember to add -t when  
I'm testing new ports, for example).
