interest/prior work around emacs-x11 and/or sawfish?

I've got patches sitting on my disk to get sawfish mostly working  
under 8.7.1 intel.  building sawfish involves some light patching of
rep-gtk-0.18
and sawfish-1.3

Before I took it further I wanted to see if there was any prior work  
to get these software versions
working.

Also, I would like to add an emacs build for x11...  called perhaps  
emacs-x11.  any prior
work?  Does anyone care :)
