Making X11 app ports

There is a submitted port that installs an executable in /usr/X11R6/bin
and the port bombs if you try to put it anywhere else because it looks fo=
r
other things in the bin install directory, bdftopcf for example.

Not to mention that it installs fonts in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts, or is
that normal when using Apple's X11 with MacPorts?  I've never understood
how this is handled with Apple's X11.  A short paragraph by someone that
understands this would be cool.  I could make it into a FAQ item.
