OD 7.2.1 installation

I'm using "Notes on installing OpenDarwin 7.2.1 on x86" to install OD 7.2.1 
onto my pc, but because of a problem with my nic (rtl8139) I don't have 
access to the internet after completing installation.  I have downloaded X11 
and Darwinports and burned them to a cd. I want  to copy them to my hard 
drive and continue with the next steps of the "Notes" document where I "Get 
X11" , "Install Darwinports" and "Install WindowMaker".  My problem is I 
don't know how to mount the cd drive and copy the files.

I looked at /etc/fstab, but  the cd drive is not even listed there.
I read the mount man page  and tried, mount -t  cd9660 /dev/disk0s1 
/Volumes/cdrom, but that didn't work.
I've read through what seems like a hundred post at discuss@opendarwin, but 
haven't found an answer.
I would appreciate it if someone would show me the specific command(s) 
needed to get this done.  Thanks, all.

And finally, a note in passing.

Looking back, that seems like an awful lot of work for such a simple and 
essential task. I would have thought that floppy drives and cdrom drives 
would be automatically detected, mounted and ready for use after a 
successful install. The use of your cd drive is so basic that it doesn't 
seem to make sense to turn it into such a point of frustration. I'm speaking 
in terms of new users only, obviously it's a trivial thing for more seasoned 
users.  To force new users to wade through the posts for each and every 
simple question that they have will only drive them away.  (And new users 
have a ton of simple questions)
I think you do a disservice to OD when potential users give-up  because the 
basics appear to be so complicated, or more to the point, so time-consuming. 
I think I'm more patient than most new users, but I do share in their anger 
and frustration at not having answers readily available in one place or one 
document.

I would be more than willing to assist with the creation of an "Installation 
Guide" or "User's Manual" where things of this nature are all collected into 
one place. Please, feel free to email me if I can help in this area.
