FWIW, I've had no luck with NetBSD 1.6.2 on my Beige G3. The bootstrap
refuses to load ("claim failed" or somesuch; it's been a while since I
tried). Rumor has it that an older version *will* run (at one time, I
think I was running 1.5.mumble on the machine), but my PC, VAX, and
Alpha are running 1.6.2, so I'd like to have it at the same rev. However,
I don't have time to play with it at the moment to figure out what's
wrong.

I've currently got MacOS 9.2 and YDL 3.0.1 on it, but I'm generally
unhappy with Linux; I have some software that depends on 64-bit file
offsets and I just have not been able to figure out how to make it go
on Linux (as near as I can figure, you cannot seek a raw DVD device to a
64-bit offset; whenever I try, ftello reports some whacky file position
that is not related to where I told it to seek). 64-bit file offsets Just
Work on NetBSD.

I have not tried OpenBSD on a Macintosh. I've run it on a Sparc and
thought it was OK, but stuff other than the PC support seems to be a bit
behind NetBSD.

FreeBSD is, of course, not an option. It doesn't even support my Alpha
(an older TURBOchannel model), let alone a Macintosh.

All this is MHO. YMMV.
