I am not sure whether they are PPC specific or not.  You could just 
download it, and use the 'file' command to see if they were built for 
ppc or x386.  You could also use the 'rpm -q' command to get info on an 
RPM package.  Do 'rpm --help' just to make sure what the correct options 
are, but it has options from which you can get information on a RPM 
package without installing it.

If you have something available at OpenDarwin's site, I would suggest 
you use that.  This doesn't apply to just OD, but to other OS'es as well.

And TWM is a part of standard X11, so any distribution of X11 is 
supposed to have it.

In your case, since you are relatively new, anything that will make it
easy to uninstall the package should be the way you want to do things. 
I would go with the RPM approach to almost all your package downloads 
and install, as that would make package management easier in your case.
