Apologies if this posts twice, but I just received a post that was
sent considerably later than this one and have yet to see this one
come through....
Looking for some guidance. Any help would be appreciated.
First experience with Darwin/OpenDarwin ( ..lots of experience with
UNIX/LINUX ). I've successfully installed and configured to boot
OpenDarwin 7.2.1 on a Dell inspiron 3800. If I could get direction on
the following it would be great:
1) is there are searchable location for the opendarwin mailing lists?
2) i've a prism2 wireless card that I use on my home network. Could
someone guide me step by step in how to use ncutil to
configure it properly for 128bit enryption, assume key is hex ->
my128bitencryptionkey12345 assume an ssid of -> thisIsMySsid
alternatively, i have a 10/100 pcmcia network card as well as the
docking station for the 3800. I'd prefer to get the wireless working,
but will take whatever working configuration I can get. I will also
settle for a non-encrypted working configuration if I have to.
3) This may make 2 a moot point, as it may make 2 a simple process(
i.e. if i have networking working and have a graphical interface,
making system configuration changes may be straightforward????). I've
downloaded the X binaries and burned them to cd. Could someone guide
me in determing what
/dev/* device is associated with my cdrom and how to mount it from the
command line. It does not appear to be being automounted:
ls -l /Volumes yields two entries
Untitled -> /
Untitled 1
4) Ultimately, i would like to end up with a system that is as 'OS/X'
like as possible -- what window manager/applications would be a good
starting point for this?
thanks,
Reid
