Hey folks, I have decided to play with oroborus which is one of the rpms at http://www.opendarwin.org/~mww/RPMS/i386/. Unfortunately, it won't go. :] I have rpm -i and it makes a few directories etc. I changed my .xinitrc to exec oroborus and commented out AfterStep. When I "startx" I get the default grey mesh background and a mouse cursor and that's it. According to Markus' dependencies I need to have XFree86 and Perl 5.8, both of which I seem to have. I have read that I need libxpm also and wonder if someone could tell me how I would tell if I have it. I have tried find / -name libxpm but it doesn't seem to be there. I also looked where my libpng and libjpg are and there is no libxmp. I wonder if besides telling me where to look someone could point me in the direction of an rpm for it or an rpm that will install it. I am trying to get my head around X but find a lot of it confusing. How come when I have installed XFree86 (org.opendarwin.X11-7.2.1-1.i386.rpm) I also have something called XDarwin in one of my directories? I thought XDarwin was a different implementation of X11.
