i've got the architecture manuals in front of me, and i don't see it.
nothing i'd describe as `nice', and that's in 64-bit mode
(with prefix bytes distributed liberally).  are there two AMD64 architectures
and i'm looking at the wrong one?

on the other hand, since it's no better than it was, it's probably easier
to extend 8[acl] than it might have been if they'd done something ... nice.

it looks like the same old page table implementation to me, which is
not so good, especially with large addressing, but then again i
haven't got to the end of the switch-this-bit-to-change-extension-mode
and access implementation-dependent registers list yet!

this had better be worth it!
