I've had good experiences with Dell as desktops or laptops, but in the past they couldn't engineer a decent server class system. They seemed to use the same system architecture for desktops and servers to cut down on costs. This may have changed, since I haven't used Dell in a while; I've been bulding my own servers for a while now.
