IMHO most folks like simple, well thought through ideas and Plan 9 has many good ideas. The security model, small footprint, and no-nonsense approach to utilities are good selling points. Starting a presentation I would attempt to hit a cord with the audience's emotions concerning problems with the current state of affairs in computing, then present facts depicting the differences/benefits in Plan 9's approach.
