it was possible even when we started talking about it originally, but
there were many problems with ip-based authentication that stopped
this solution from being feasible...  disallowing andrey@ucalgary to
connect to your servers wouldn't stop me from rerouting my connection
through somebody else's server for example and still appear legit.
