my cpu server is an old 333 Mhz amd-k6 machine with 256Mb of ram
(2 other such machines run as kenfs and as auth server) --
when in use as music machine (some friday afternoons) not so
many cycles are left.

Network connection should be fine, though.

So, even if the cpu cycles I can offer are not very impressive,
if it helps w.r.t. the distributed nature of the 'experiment',
I can (and am willing to) create accounts there.

(and then, if I would be able to and have the time to come up
 with a nice application of 9grid in (ok, that somehow relates to)
 my actual work, who knows, I might even be able to lay my hands
 on better hardware :-)


Hmmm.... thinking out loud:
currently I update the machine (stuff in file system., kernel)
only once in a while.
On the other hand, I made some local modifications to some
things that might affect someone trying to use it
(e.g. an incompatible change in libcontrol).
Even though the particular changes in my case are probably
not relevant to 9grid use, could there be cases where such
local modifications do matter?
Are there (could there, would there) be dependencies in this
respect? Or is this no issue at all?
Are there things one would expect to find (unaltered!)
on any 9grid node?
As I wrote above, just some thoughts... (or, rather, questions)
