For the Ultra 60's I used a Belkin fsu 220 USB card, using Solaris 10 11/06. On the Ultra 20 I am running Solaris Express Developer Edition 9/07, on which support for USB drives is much better. In both cases ZFS was used. I have not formatted a USB drive for UFS but have no problem reading UFS file systems on USB disks. The I/O Magic boxes use a Prolific Technology ATA to USB interface and work quite well for ATA disks, and acceptably for a Plextor 750a DVD writer. Have no experience with commonly available "USB Drives", but I see no reason they would not work on Solaris 10. No experience with Solaris 9 either in this context, but support for USB drives is probably problematic at best on Solaris 9. Hugh Coomes
