Lucent had a huge telecomms software center in Columbus. Many 5ESS fault management and provisioning applications were written there, mostly all running on HP-UX. There is still some R&D there but the coding and testing has all gone to China and India and the remaining apps are being ported to Solaris and Linux. Even the smallest RP3440 (in a former Compaq chassis) is a hard sell when the equivilent Sun box is a quarter of the price. Best regards Ben
