Needless to say, power outages > are only a problem if they are longer than an hour or so. Small UPSes aren't *too* bad, because they're usually not an online (inverter always running) design. Still, budget at least 20% wastage at this level - control circuitry, any intelligence, battery tricklecharging and the rest.
