Oh wow. I remember downloading and installing (with floppies!) Plan 9 in
around 2001. It was never as good as the screen shot on the Bell Labs
site, I really think you had to be working in a collaborative
programming environment to get anything out of it. I think most of the
team went with Rob Pike to Google.

Not a wasted effort though as I believe it was used as the OS for
Lucents firewall called "The Brick".
