I am trying to add a second onboard 80 gig IDE drive on my Sun Blade
100 running Solaris 10 with 650 meg Ram. The partition is complete as a
backup(2) with 2 partitions. When I attempt to mkfs or newfs on the
drive using SMC v2.1 or manually, I get an error message "Attempt to
create file system on partition /dev/dsk/c0t2d0 failed with unexpected
CIM error: timed_out". I have purchased a new 80 gig IDE HD and still
the same problem. Both drives are configured as cable select with a
cdrom drive attached to one of the connections. I have been at this
for some time now and still no active 2nd drive in the desk top sun
blade 100 sys. I have tried it manually as well as with SMC v2.1. Can
any one tell me how to fix this error and apply the new file system to
the 80gig disk drive?

Also when I list the drive information using SMC v2.1 the floppy drive
takes off running for 3 - 4 seconds as if it is reading or writing
information to the floppy disk or the floppy drive is misconfigured in
the sys.

On the sun blade 100 I have a sun 12 disk raid array connected to a
scsi card that works fine.

Enclosed is a *.jpg att of the bootup screens. HELP!
