The original Sun x6540a card is a Symbios SYM-22801 LVD/SE dual-channel
PCI SCSI card which uses a pair of VHDCI high-density 68-pin connectors on
the external card panel. Sun also used the SYM-22802 to provide the same
functionality but for HVD dual-channel PCI SCSI which Sun provided as
x6541a.

Those are fairly old cards by current standards now but they're fully
supported by all the Solaris PCI SCSI and related drivers and will work
fine in any PCI-based Sun workstation or server running SunOS 5.8 or
higher (ie. Solaris 8 or higher).
