It is not Linux, but it is a free Unix like OS just like Linux. I have extensive experience on running NetBSD on sparc and sparc64. It runns very well. You will need a bit Unix adminstration knowledge, or you will need to learn it. :-) But NetBSD is much more straight forward and better documented then the usual Linux distro. E.g. NetBSD comes with man-pages for (nearly) everything in the system. On Linux you have to search The Net for obscure and outdated HOWTOs... http://www.de.netbsd.org/ http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-5.0/sparc/ http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/iso/5.0/sparccd-5.0.iso http://www.de.netbsd.org/docs/guide/en/index.html http://www.de.netbsd.org/docs/pkgsrc/index.html Did you by this machine at the VCFe flea market? -- tschüß, Jochen Homepage: http://www.unixag-kl.fh-kl.de/~jkunz/
