I will second/third/whatever the netbsd choice. It just works and works 
damn well. It will also put some hair on your chest. ;)

I run Solaris 9 in my SS20. If I were to pick another OS, it would be 
netsbd. FYI, my first Sun ever -- a 3/50 -- run netbsd quite happily.
