As far as not using OpenSolaris, since I work for Sun in the kernel 
group, I should explain why I am not running Solaris on my personal 
SPARC machines.  Actually, it is pretty easy to explain.  Almost all of 
my personal SPARC machines are sun4m.  In fact, they are almost all 
lunchbox systems (I like the form factor).  OpenSolaris does not run on 
sun4m hardware.  The exception is my Ultra 1, which I am running Solaris 
7 on.

Of course, I am running recent builds of OpenSolaris or Solaris Nevada 
on the Sun-owned test h/w in my lab (including an Ultra 45).

As far as 32-bit SPARC, I wouldn't expect any current Solaris to work 
with that.    I don't think it works with my early Ultra 1 either.  
IIRC, that support was removed from Solaris 10.
