Help - X.org or just any X11 on an SS20 with NetBSD

Hi all, Two questions: (1) Has anyone successfully compiled and used X.org with 4.0.1 or earlier on a SPARCstation 20 (SS20) or similar? If so, how did you procede? (Moving to 5.0 is out of the question until the SMP issue is resolved.) (2) Otherwise, has anyone managed to configure and run the X11 binary sets included in 4.0.1 or earlier on a SS20 or similar? Care to give an XF86Config? I am trying to compile X.org on my SS20 SMP running NetBSD/sparc 4.0.1. (Will admit that the X11 binaries included in the 4.0.1 distribution don't work "out of the box" and I wanted to give X.org a shot since the said included binaries are based on XFree86 if I'm not mistaken.) Now it would appear to be possible. I've found the following message on the tech-x11 mailing list: http://www.nabble.com/Native-Xorg-on-sparc-confirmed-working-td20414633.html I've also located the following howto: http://wiki.netbsd.se/How_to_install_modular_Xorg In the howto, one must 'make install' the modular-xorg-server package in pkgsrc. I've gotten pretty far, but the compiler produced errors at 'xf86pciBus.lo' (directory '/usr/pkgsrc/x11/modular-xorg-server/work/xorg-server-1.4.2/hw/xfree86/common' and stopped. These questions may seem obvious to you, but I'm completely out of touch with the details of X-Windows. Moreover, I find the documentation woefully inadequate for X11 on NetBSD/sparc. (The NetBSD documentation is generally excellent, but the specificities of running X on a SPARC are missing as far as I can tell.) Also... X11 under OpenBSD/sparc 4.5 works "out of the box" but the kernel does not do SMP. I'd imagine that there's a way to transplant some of the elements but am not sure where to start. - Alex
