I tried a 501-2922 in my 1+ (ROM rev 1.3) and the boot wedged; I hooked
up a serial console and the most significant-looking line was

so I tried another one (I have more than any sane person short of a
dealer will ever need) and got the same error.

So I went through my collection of other framebuffers, looking for
things which might be GXes.  (For example, if it doesn't have a
Brooktree, it's probably monochrome.)  I tried them in my 1+.

Three of them worked: two 501-1672s and a 501-1996.

Four of them wedged the POST - the working ones gave video somewhere
around the 30 second mark; I gave these 45 seconds, still no video.
The list: two 501-1232s, another 501-2922 (hm, why wasn't it with the
rest?), and a non-Sun card ("TATUNG HERON Plus").

Two of them gave video signal but did not give a working framebuffer.
These are the two double-width cards (the others are all single-width):
two 501-1645s.

It's possible that some of the non-working cards are simply broken,
especially the double-width ones (which should act the same but
didn't).

I'm not even listing cards which worked but weren't GX - I found a cg3
and a bw2 in the pile of cards I'd selected to test, for example.
