java & oracle for a SPARCStation

Does anyone use java or oracle on a sun4m machine (SS-4 - SS-20)? What
versions definitely work?
I tried j2se 6, and it doesn't. After a quick search I found that it's
a known issue:

according to the description it's fixed in the build b102 of java7(!).
I couldn't find this build, and the later build b111 doesn't have
SPARC v8 support at all.

So I guess none of the j2se6 versions is supposed to work. What about j2se5?

And actually I didn't need the java as such, but for the Oracle Lite
10.0.3 install. The last j2se5 - u22 - starts and is good enough for
the installer, but crashes with a core dump when I try to start oc4j.
I guess I have to search for the earlier Oracle versions?

Any success stories for Oracle 8+ are welcome.
